Bộ cài đặt Offline cho trình duyệt Chrome của Google

Hiện tại, cách cài đặt Google Chrome mặc định mà Google mạng đến cho người dùng đó là bộ cài đặt dạng trực tuyến (online installer). Tức là, sau khi tải nó về tại trang web chính thức của trình duyệt này, nó sẽ bắt người dùng ấn nút chấp nhận các điều khoản rồi mới tải về bộ cài đặt đầy đủ, sau đó là cài vào máy. Khá là phiền phức nhỉ!

Một vài người dùng (trong đó có cả tôi) và các nhà quản trị mạng lại cần một giải pháp khác, đó là bộ cài đặt ngoại tuyến (offine installer). Lí do có thể do quy chế tường lửa của họ hay những qui tắc của hệ thống mạng không cho phép máy tính kết nối Internet, hay để tiết kiệm băng thông bằng cách sử dụng cùng một bộ cài đặt trên nhiều máy tính khác nhau…

Sau đây là cách thức giúp bạn dễ dàng tải bộ cài đặt Google Chrome ngoại tuyến (offline installer).

Tất cả những gì bạn cần làm đó là thêm tham số standalone=1 vào địa chỉ tải về Chrome, cụ thể là thêm vào sau 2 đường dẫn tải về cho bản chính thức mới nhất và bản beta mới nhất của trình duyệt Chrome.

Bản beta mới nhất: http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=betachannel&standalone=1

Hai đường dẫn này cho phép bạn tải về máy tính bản cài đặt đầy đủ của trình duyệt Chrome. Lưu ý: Tính năng tự động cập nhật vẫn được kích hoạt khi download bản cài đặt ngoại tuyến, và vẫn hoạt động bình thường khi có kết nối Internet.

When you download the setup for Google Chrome's site, you're only downloading the installer for Google Updater. The updater downloads Google Chrome's full setup and then installs the software. Here's an excerpt from a Squid report:

But sometimes you can't install the auto-updating software or you need to perform an offline install of the software. To solve these issues, Google Chrome started to offer a standalone installer.

Google notes that "the version of Google Chrome available from the link below may not auto-update to future browser releases, meaning you could miss important security fixes and feature improvements. If you install Google Chrome using the link below, bookmark this page and check back periodically to manually download newer releases." When I installed Chrome using the offline setup, Google added the auto-updating service.
